our beliefs
We here at Kankakee Gospel Assembly believe:
- The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the verbally and plenarily (wholly?) inspired Word of God. The Scriptures, being infallible and God-breathed, are therefore the final authority for faith and life.
- The Scriptures teach that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but, through Adam's sin, the human race became alienated from God, thus inheriting a sinful nature; and, that man, being totally depraved, is utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.
- That salvation is a gift of God brought to man by grace and received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His precious blood that was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of sins.
- Those who profess to possess such salvation should live according to God's Word in a manner that is consistent with their profession and should not bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord, and should grow in the grace and knowledge of their Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
- In receiving fresh and clearer understanding of God's Word through the ministry of the body of Christ both locally and universally as the ministry engages in patient, on-going study of Holy Scriptures under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit and in the discipline of Divine love manifested to one another.
Believing that life must be lived as the Scriptures require, our convictions include:
Concerning Creation: We Believe that God created the universe.
Concerning Government: We Believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: Home, Church, and State. Every person is subject to these authorities but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and governed by His Word. God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and has balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other.
Concerning Human Sexuality: We Believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should occur outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
